Christine Nöstlinger (born 13 October 1936 in Vienna) is an Austrian writer. She wrote 1982 "Das Austauschkind". It is a story about an exchange student.
Eric, by Shaun Tan The story is about an exchange student who comes to live with a human family. The student is not a real person he is a tiny leaf. The family have trouble understanding him, but share their life with him and make sure he has all sorts of experiences. They are never quite sure whether he enjoys them or not, but when he leaves, the family discover he has left them a beautiful surprise.
The pupils from Siegerland - Grundschule thought about the progress of the story. After 10 years the boys wrote a letter to each other.
Dear Eric,
after all these years I am writing you a letter. How are you? When you left us, we thought that you did not like it. But as we have seen your gifts, we knew you loved it.
We have kept everything and show everyone who comes to visit us, what you have left us. How old are you now? I am 24 years old and I´m working as a businessman. You can contact us at any time to visit again.
I wish you a wonderful life. Thanks for the time with you. Here is a picture of you.
